Expedition X summer season launch

Local front line staff inflating their packrafts at the Expedition X summer launch party_mediaQueenstown’s newest water and land based activity operator Expedition X launched its summer tours last night (Monday December 2) with a lake front party co-hosted with Jucy Cruize.

The weather didn’t disappoint, with a stunning summer evening perfect for many local frontline staff to get out on Lake Wakatipu and try packrafting.

Expedition X director and head guide Arno Marten was on hand to demonstrate inflating the packrafts and water safety skills.

Jucy Cruize, which will be the main booking agent for Expedition X packrafting tours, provided guests with tasty nibbles and cold drinks.

Mr Marten said it was a “great opportunity” to familiarise local booking agents with packrafting as it is the only operation of its kind in New Zealand.

“It’s a fun and different summer activity and it’s the perfect way to explore Queenstown’s amazing landscapes,” he said.

“It was great to be able to show our amazing frontliners just how easy it is to inflate the rafts and how it takes just a few minutes to get used to handling them in the water. Everyone had a great time!”

Tours will run on the Kawarau River daily, departing from Queenstown with all equipment, training and food supplied.

To ensure a safe and enjoyable experience, trips are tailored to suit each group on the day and their preferred level of adventure.

Mr Marten has extensive experience as a former river boarding assessor and guide, an adventure athlete, swift water rescue trainer and assessor, dive instructor, paraglide tandem pilot and instructor, and outdoor leader.
