China Southern Makes its Debut in New York City

China Southern Airlines has launched direct flights between Guangzhou and New York City, a landmark addition to the airline's worldwide network and the first direct services from southern China to the US East Coast.

From today, flight CZ399 will operate each Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday, departing Guangzhou at 1.40am and arriving at New York's JFK International Airport at 5.15am the same day. The return flight CZ300 departs JFK at 11.15am on the same days and arrives at Guangzhou at 3.15pm the following day.

The route will be operated with a new-generation, four-class Boeing 777‐300ER aircraft offering a total of 309 seats - four in First Class, 34 in Business Class, 44 in Premium Economy Class and 227 in Economy Class.  First Class offers luxurious suites, while Business Class cabins include fully flat beds and Premium Economy cabins offer generous extra leg room.

All cabins are equipped with the world's most advanced Top Series AVANT fourth-generation android touch screen entertainment system.

China Southern Airlines Chairman Si Xianmin said New York was the airline's third destination in North America alongside Los Angeles and Vancouver.

"Today, on the occasion of the 35th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and America, we take great pride in launching our direct service from Guangzhou to New York City," Mr Si said. "It is fair to say that our development in the US marketplace is a symbol of China Southern's steady integration into the international marketplace, part of a tireless endeavor to develop into a world-class airline."

China Southern Regional General Manager Australia New Zealand Henry He said JFK was an important new destination for the airline's Australasian travellers.

"Travellers can now fly the Canton Route to New York City and take advantage of our stopover options in Guangzhou," Mr He said. "The new service offers a perfect opportunity to combine the two cities, not only for leisure travellers but also for the many Australian businesspeople who work closely with both China and the US."

From its hub at Baiyun International Airport in Guangzhou, China Southern's Canton Route flies to almost 200 destinations in 35 countries including more than 150 Chinese cities on the world's most extensive domestic network.

China Southern is a proud member of SkyTeam, which offers passengers a worldwide system of more than 19,000 daily flights spanning more than 1000 destinations in 187 countries.
