Spicers Tamarind Retreat Wins Best Asian Restaurant at 2014 Queensland Restaurant & Catering Awards for Excellence

The Tamarind at Spicers Tamarind was last night awarded BEST ASIAN RESTAURANT at Queensland's Restaurant & Catering Awards for Excellence.

Lead by Executive Chef Daniel Jarrett, The Tamarind specialises in Modern Asian Cuisine, embracing the flavours, philosophies and unique culinary cultures of Thailand, Korea, China, Japan, Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos with emphasis on Western presentation and palates to create a modern twist.
Daniel Jarrett was trained in the French tradition and spent time travelling through China and Malaysia learning the secrets of Asia's unique culinary culture, before turning his hand to creating his celebrated dishes at The Tamarind.
Daniel Jarrett comments: “We are thrilled with this industry recognition of our efforts at The Tamarind and are proud to be a part of putting the Sunshine Coast on the culinary map. We work hard to create a dining experience that is the perfect meeting of the traditional and the new to inspire the palate and provide a true taste of Asia”.
In its 17th year, the Restaurant and Catering Awards are recognised as the most important and respected industry awards – providing a definitive guide to Australia's best restaurants and caterers. The awards are designed to objectively recognise and promote industry best practice with more than 500 trained judges collaborating in the process, setting the national guide for excellence.
The Tamarind's combination of Asian technique, fresh ingredients and locally sourced produce recently also resulted in the restaurant receiving two chef hats in the 2014-2015 Queensland Good Food Guide.
