Cellar Door Wine Festival Adelaide

Meet, Taste and Discover at Australia's Biggest Cellar Door

Immersive food and wine experiences will be a key feature of the 2015 Cellar Door Wine Festival Adelaide at the Adelaide Convention Centre (February 20 – 22, 2015) with the official program launched today.

A new 'Meet, Make & Eat' experience has been added to the program with attendees invited to tour the Festival's regions, meet the producers and then select their favourite produce and wines.

They then head into the kitchen with a leading Adelaide chef to prepare dishes using their selected produce before heading back to the Festival's Farmers Market to enjoy their feast with their chosen wines.

The program also includes a greater number of food and wine master classes with South Australia's top winemakers and food producers along with special guest wine author and educator Matt Skinner.

Matt, a Plumm wine glass ambassador, will host a range of experiences, including a 'Party Favourites' Master Class showcasing Coffin Bay oysters, Onkaparinga veal and fresh South Australian scallops.

Iconic South Australian winery Penfolds will also attend to host vertical tasting master classes for the first time which will include Australia's flagship wine, Grange Hermitage.

The multi-award winning Festival will again host an expected record number of participants with more than 170 South Australian wineries, breweries and food producers representing 15 regions showcasing their products including the newly added Yorke Peninsula and Southern Flinders regions.

Adelaide Convention Centre Chief Executive Alec Gilbert said the program for the fifth Cellar Door Wine Festival Adelaide packs more into the three days than ever before.

“The 2015 program will bring visitors even closer to the regions by providing an immersive experience designed to give an insight into how each region's geography, soil and climate shapes local wine and produce,” said Mr Gilbert.

“With the Festival hosted under one roof at the Centre it provides visitors with an easy way to taste and compare the unique characteristics of each region.”

The Long Table feasts make a return to the Festival with a Brunch now added to the program.

On Saturday 21st February, The Lane's head chef James Brinklow, wine experts Ben Tolstoshev and Christian Burvill-Holmes, resident Cheese-pert Valerie Henbest and Eat Local Ambassador Kris

Lloyd will host a relaxed, yet informative Long Table Lunch incorporating South Australia's Premium Food and Wine.

Guests will be treated to a sumptuous main course of cured duck breast, confit of duck leg, freekah, pomegranate, preserved lemon and finished with a range of regional cheeses. Dishes will be accompanied by a range of The Lane's sparkling, white and red wines.

On Sunday 22nd, local producers will host a brunch at the Long Table with guests treated to delicacies such as local buffalo ricotta with Adelaide Hills' berries and honey, grilled Kangaroo Island haloumi, Clare Valley free range eggs and South Australian cheese infused with chai leaves and triple cream brie. Adelaide Hills' sparkling wines will be served throughout the brunch.

The Tastes of SA Demonstration Stage also returns with the emerging food producer's area, supported by Event Major Sponsor, Primary Industries and Regions SA (PIRSA).

Each visitor is given a Plumm wine glass for free tastings, a branded calico shopping bag and a passport that includes notes about the regions and wine tasting tips to plan and record their Festival experience.

Wine buyers will be able to take advantage of the 'Pick 'n Pack' service where up to 12 bottles of wine purchased at the Festival can be packed and shipped to any destination in Australia for only $10.
