A&K Managing Director Sujata Raman comments, "South America remains one of A&K's core products, with sales to the region up 80% on same time last year. The trend for multi-country itineraries has been strong, with the 16-day 'Wonders of South America' tri-country combination our best-selling itinerary. Expanding the offering, we've added a Chile and Argentina two-week combination which covers many of the highlights in both countries, including Chile's Maipo Valley wine growing region, Valparaiso and Torres del Paine National Park plus Argentinian Patagonia and Buenos Aires."

New in 2015

Though one of South America's smallest countries, Uruguay is a civilised and stable nation with charming attractions, 300 years of history and a rich agricultural heritage. A&K's new itinerary includes World Heritage Colonia del Sacramento. with its quaint cobblestone streets and artisans and a traditional ranch, where guests can join the local gauchos for riding and tours of the farm or bird watching and wine tasting. Guests also visit the most important monuments in the capital Montevideo and visit the glamorous resort town of Punta del Este.
A&K's 6-day 'Uruguay' journey is priced from $2,300.

Known primarily because of the Galapagos Islands, Ecuador has much to offer beyond the unique wildlife experiences 1,000km offshore. To the south of Quito is a stunning world of volcanoes, mountains and lakes where A&K guests are put up in a traditional hacienda. There are walks around beautiful lakes, breath-taking views of dramatic volcanoes, visits to pre-Inca ruins, a trip on the iconic Devil's Nose railway as well as time spent in the delightful colonial city of Cuenca, a World Heritage listed site.

A&K's 6 day 'Avenue of the Volcanoes' journey is priced from $4,600.

Engaging with nature

With heightened interest in Brazil due to the World Cup and promotion of the 2016 Olympics we are including four itineraries there including a brief sojourn into the country's vast wetland areas to the south known as the Pantanal. This is an amazing wildlife experience and lesser known than its more famous northern equivalent, the Amazon. Guests stay in an extraordinary eco-lodge on a 53,000-hectare ranch and enjoy wildlife activities including forest walks, caiman spotting, canoeing and nocturnal outings. A&K's 4 day 'Brazilian Pantanal' is priced from $2,865.

Beach stays

Both Mexico and Brazil boast extraordinary beaches. The four-day Riviera Maya Extension is a luxury getaway to Esencia, a 30-room boutique hideaway located between Mexico's Playa del Carmen and Tulum. In Brazil, Buzios is an easy three-hour's drive from Rio and a favourite seaside retreat for Cariocas.

A&K's 4-day 'Riviera Maya Extension' is priced from $1,575.

Other journeys include cruising the Peruvian Amazon, a trip to Easter Island, Chile from north to south, exploring the Inca delights of Peru's Sacred Valley and Cusco, vineyards of Argentina and Galapagos cruising.
