New Caledonia Tourism collaborates with We Are Handsome to launch French Pacific inspired capsule collection

New Caledonia Tourism Board has collaborated with iconic Australian fashion swimwear label, We Are Handsome, to create an exclusive print and capsule collection inspired by the Pacific island’s serene palette of lagoon blues and Isle of Pines greens.

The limited-edition New Caledonia collection includes the brand’s signature scoop neck one piece and best-selling string bikini, both featuring a striking, print design reflecting New Caledonia’s European sophistication and spectacular island setting. Custom designed by We Are Handsome duo, Jeremy and Katinka Somers, in partnership with the destination’s tourism board, the collection was envisioned to bring a piece of the French infused island to Australians and to encourage them to explore this nearby Pacific paradise.

“It has been a fantastic exercise for New Caledonia Tourism and an amazing experience to work with talented fashion designers We Are Handsome. The level of exposure given to New Caledonia through the photo shoot but also the development of the New Caledonia capsule collection is invaluable. It also allows us to reach consumers outside of the travel space and inspire them to consider our beautiful destination,” said New Caledonia Tourism’s sales & marketing director, Caroline Brunel.

“Working with New Caledonia has been a dream for us. We’re no strangers to island paradise, but New Caledonia represents something completely unique as an experience and environment. A mere 2.5 hours from Sydney, the mix of both French and Kanak cultures is truly fascinating Throw in the mix of beach, blue lagoons, and both palm and pine trees and you have something completely unique at every turn,” said Katinka Somers, Director, We Are Handsome.

As one of the closest overseas destinations to Australia, New Caledonia is as vibrant in colour as it is in experiences. With its unique blend of island landscapes, French culture and Melanesian traditions, the destination offers Australians a nearby island escape where locals converse in French and daily adventures include sailing, snorkelling, diving, trekking and sampling delicious fusions of French and local cuisine. New Caledonia is also regarded as an ecological hotspot, with the world’s largest coastal lagoon, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, it is also home to the second largest reef in the world and has one of the largest marine preserves in the world.

We Are Handsome’s latest Euphoria campaign was also shot in New Caledonia earlier this year. Campaign shots include backdrops of this enchanting destination showcasing the diverse landscape that is New Caledonia.
