Norfolk Island Jazz Festival

Norfolk Island Jazzes It Up - an Island Jazz Festival now with direct flights from Melbourne!

How could you pass up a jazz festival that is not only held on an island, but in magical venues including under a sprawling Banyan tree perched high on a cliff overlooking coral reef and historic buildings within a World Heritage listed area? Well, all this and more is just part of the experience at Norfolk Island’s annual jazz festival ‘Norfolk Island Jazzes It Up’.

In 2016 the festival runs from the 4th to the 8th of December making it the perfect pre-Christmas get-away. Each year the Islanders equally embrace the musicians and visitors who travel over for the week providing the perfect atmosphere to get in the groove and experience great jazz. Located mid-way between Australia and New Zealand the festival is able to attract top-liners from both destinations. In 2016 performers from Australia include Dr Don’s Double Dose, The Jazz Factory, Di Bird Quartet and Pearlnoire; while from New Zealand are The Andrew London Trio and Mike Garner’s Bay City Ramblers.

For visitors travelling ex-Melbourne, flying to Norfolk Island has just got a whole lot easier with new direct flights. For the jazz festival 7 night packages that include airfare, accommodation, car hire, ½ day island tour and much more begin at $1399 ex Melbourne, or $999 ex Brisbane, $1049 ex Sydney. Jazz packs are an additional $398 and include Gold Pass seating at 4 concerts; 2 dinners, 1 lunch; a souvenir gift bag, programme and polo shirt.

The beauty of Norfolk is renowned with tall majestic pines, high rising cliffs, green undulating valleys, lush rainforest and beautiful surrounding waters. Many visitors feel a sense of ‘coming home’ perhaps to a way of life they knew from years ago where a friendly, relaxed pace and sense of attention to life customs and community is the norm. Matching that easy pace though is a huge choice of activities and tours on offer, letting you decide how busy or relaxed you’d like your jazz week to be. History and heritage tours, swimming, snorkelling, shopping, fishing and fresh seasonal food are all there to be enjoyed.
