AUKO: Vietnam eco-wellness lodge project to open in Phong Nha in 2026

A new eco-wellness retreat is due to open in Vietnam’s Phong Nha–Ke Bang UNESCO World Heritage area in the third quarter of 2026, targeting growing demand for nature-based and wellness tourism in Southeast Asia.

Auko Eco-Wellness Lodges will comprise 30 tented lodges along the Son River near the cave systems of Phong Nha, including Son Doong, billed as the world’s largest cave. The project is being developed by Vietnam’s Van Phu Real Estate Development JSC, with wellness operations managed by Lumina Wellbeing.

The company said the property was designed to withstand monsoon flooding and was developed in alignment with the International Finance Corporation’s Building Resilience Index. Features include elevated bamboo walkways, reclaimed timber structures and ventilated platforms intended to adapt to seasonal water movement.

The resort will offer three wellness programmes centred on relaxation, guided wellness and outdoor activity, alongside cave trekking, river excursions and other nature-based experiences. Meals will be included as part of an all-inclusive model focused on regional produce and local cuisine.

Michelle Ford, founder of Lumina Wellbeing, said the project aimed to combine sustainability and wellbeing through what she described as a “regenerative hospitality model”.

Vietnam has been expanding its wellness and experiential tourism offerings as the country seeks higher-spending international visitors and longer stays beyond traditional beach destinations.
