Belair National Park Holiday Park wins development grant

Belair National Park Holiday Park will receive a $679,000 Nature-Based Tourism Co-Investment Fund grant provided by the state government.

The money will be used to improve the holiday park's facilities. Belair National Park Holiday Park owner Jenna Harris said the funding will be used to renovate the park's 40-year-old cottages (pic above).

"The cabins haven't been touched since the day they were built and we hope to provide a new atmosphere for a younger demographic.

"We want to encourage people to be involved with nature and sustainability at our holiday park."

Jenna said the grant will also be used to install six new eco-tents, renovate five cottages, provide en suite facilities to powered sites and increase security with the installation of boom gates.

Jenna said the park attracts 10,000 visits a year and is a great place to enjoy nature.

"People are encouraged to connect with nature with the surrounding trees," Jenna said.

"The Belair National Park is a unique environment as we are only 11km away from the CBD, yet it feels like you're in the middle of nowhere because of the beautiful landscapes.

"The park is a good base for lots of people to connect, including school groups and activity groups.

"We will be advertising a lot more when the renovations are completed to increase exposure and instil the message of education and sustainability.

"We hope to see more visitors by providing modern accommodation at the Belair National Park Holiday Park."
