Bendigo Launches 20th Annual Bloom Festival of Events




The City of Greater Bendigo’s annual program of Spring events - Bendigo Bloom - has returned to the thriving regional Victorian city - for its 20th anniversary - with an outstanding line up of wine, heritage, art, comedy, outdoor experiences and entertainment for the whole family to enjoy … with many of the experiences totally FREE!

Throughout September, October and November 2023, visitors to Bendigo can enjoy more than 50 amazing experiences across the Bendigo and Heathcote regions - ensuring spring 2023 is action-packed and one to remember.

New to this year’s line up is Groove Tram, which sees Bendigo’s iconic heritage tram transformed into an exclusive, fully mobile pop-up bar with live music. And back by popular demand is the night-time interactive garden activation Bloom After Dark.

Following Bendigo recently winning silver in TAC’s Victorian Top Tourism Awards, which recognised the region’s heritage architecture and many visitor attractions, there couldn’t be a better time to visit the central Victorian town and its surrounding areas.

This year’s Bendigo Bloom program highlights are divided into experiential themes : Garden Events, Food & Drink Experiences, Family Friendly Fun, Comedy and Wellness.

Bendigo Bloom - Garden Events

Bendigo Annual Tulip Display: mid September to early October 2023
Watch 53,000 tulips, in an assortment of colours and sizes, blossom along Pall Mall and the Conservatory Gardens as Bendigo celebrates the 20th year of its famous Tulip display.

Bloom After Dark: 15 September - 1 October 2023 Experience Bendigo’s annual Tulip Display in Pall Mall, like never before. Back by popular demand - follow the nightly trail (6.45pm-10pm) and see the beautiful tulip beds illuminated, view Paul Fletcher’s visual artist work The Symbiotic Pulse at Bendigo Visitor Centre, walk along a Spring interactive path and have fun playing with the giant interactive blooming flower displays.

Bendi-Gnome Trail: 15 September - 1 October 2023 Over September school holidays the City of Bendigo welcomes 12 new residents - the Spring Bloom Gnomes. Children are encouraged to follow the trail of gnomes placed strategically throughout the city’s four main gardens. They can take photos of the gnomes and go into the draw to win some fun prizes.

Cornella Canola Walk: 19 August - mid September 2023
Make your way out to The Shiraz Republic and Cornella Brewery for the Cornella Canola Walk (near Heathcote). Wander along the walking track through the flowering yellow crop to the viewing platform for 360-degree views and plenty of insta-worthy shots.

Bendigo Bloom - Food & Drink Experiences

Celebrating Australia’s first UNESCO City of Gastronomy, Bendigo Bloom has many events that showcase the exceptional food and drinks produced in and around Bendigo.

Heritage & Hidden Spaces Wines Walk: Saturday 21 October 2023

Walking wine festival will take you to 9 heritage spaces while you taste some of the finest wines in our region (18+ wineries). Amazing buildings to explore along the way, such as the Bendigo Mining Exchange.

Groove Tram: 9 & 23 September and 7, 14, 21 & 28 October 2023
Introducing Bendigo’s most exclusive pop-up bar - the Groove Tram. Step on board one of Bendigo’s iconic trams and be transported to a world of pure entertainment where live music, local brews and fine wine are all enjoyed against the picturesque backdrop of Bendigo’s rolling vistas. The city’s finest musicians will be making the tram their stage ensuring that no two nights are ever the same.

Flavour Trail - A Gastronomic Adventure in Bendigo: Wednesday 4 October 2023
Continuing a tradition established two years ago, four Bendigo restaurants - The Dispensary, The Goldmines Hotel, Ms Batterhams & Masons of Bendigo - once again host their renowned progressive dinner. Choose your starting point and let us take care of the rest. Enjoy four unique menus as you head from venue to venue savouring dishes perfectly matched wines. We even have a bus at the ready to transport you to your next course and next venue.

Heathcote Wine and Food Festival: 7 & 8 October 2023 Artisan winemakers of Heathcote will gather to showcase some of the most distinctive and iconic wines in the country. Be the first to sample new release wines and award-winning wines from the region, grab a bite to eat, chill out to live music by Bendigo Blues & Roots and enjoy lawn games and kids’ entertainment by
Mr Mike.

Bendigo Bloom - Family Friendly Fun

Vibes and Vino: Saturday 4 November 2023
If your family loves live music then make your way out to Heathcote’s Barrack Reserve for Vibes & Vino. This family-friendly event includes four live acts, market stalls selling local wine, craft beer and spirits, plus food trucks, kids entertainment and more.

Harvest Moon Festival: Friday 29 September 2023
Celebrate Harvest Moon with multi-cultural food and entertainment at this free family-friendly event held at the Dai Gum San precinct. This cherished celebration is observed across many Asian countries and showcases unique customs and traditions, from expressing gratitude for the bountiful harvest, offering prayers and well wishes for the prosperity and wellbeing of loved ones.

Zinda Festival: Saturday 7 October 2023

If you love international flavours, world music and an exciting outdoor event, this one's for you. Zinda Festival is all about multicultural music, food and art in Bendigo. The festival celebrates our region’s growing diversity and its vibrancy within our community. Bendigo Yoga Festival: 27 - 29 October 2023
