YOTEL targets Asia Pacific growth that could triple its portfolio

London-founded YOTEL plans a major Asia Pacific expansion as part of a global strategy that could triple its worldwide portfolio. It is aiming at highly mobile international travellers who want convenient, connected, good-value stays in gateway cities.

The company, founded in 2007, operates 24 hotels worldwide, including in New York, Washington DC, San Francisco, Amsterdam, Edinburgh, Istanbul, Tokyo and Singapore. It also runs airport hotels at Singapore Changi, Paris Charles de Gaulle, Amsterdam Schiphol, Istanbul and London Gatwick.

YOTEL Bangkok Sukhumvit, its Thailand debut, opened in October 2026. YOTEL Kuala Lumpur City Centre follows in early 2027. They will be the fourth and fifth YOTELs in Asia, after YOTEL Tokyo Ginza, YOTEL Singapore Orchard Road and YOTELAIR Singapore Changi Airport. YOTEL is looking at new-builds, conversions and adaptive re-use projects across its three brands: YOTEL (city centre), YOTELPAD (longer stays) and YOTELAIR (airport hotels).

In March 2026, YOTEL became the first brand in the new Select by Hilton, giving its hotels access to Hilton Honors and Hilton's distribution network while staying independently owned and operated. Eleven hotels, including Bangkok Sukhumvit, are already integrated, with more due by year-end.

The brand's selling points are space-efficient rooms with a reclining SmartBed, rain showers and streaming-enabled TVs, plus robots that handle luggage and deliveries. YOTEL says one in three guests in its 2025 research chose it for sleep quality. It also aims for LEED Gold certification on all new-builds.

CEO Phil Andreopoulos said low-cost airlines and simpler visa rules have driven a surge in intra-Asian travel. He cited "early indications from Bangkok" and said Kuala Lumpur is next.
