Halloween celebrations, a major food and wine festival and citywide Christmas events headline the months ahead, as Australian arrivals rise.
Hong Kong is entering a busy stretch of its autumn events calendar, with Halloween celebrations under way, the Hong Kong Wine & Dine Festival opening later this month and WinterFest due to follow in November.
The Wine & Dine Festival runs from 29 October to 1 November at Central Harbourfront. More than 300 booths are planned, with wines from more than 30 regions and food from more than 100 Hong Kong restaurants. Australia will be represented by 12 wines, including new additions from New South Wales, South Australia and Tasmania. Free entry will be available to international visitors, according to the Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB).
Halloween events include district cosplay celebrations on 17 and 24 October, followed by events on Halloween night. Hong Kong Disneyland’s Disney Halloween Time runs until 1 November, while Ocean Park’s Halloween Fest continues through the same date.
The season’s earlier events included the Mid-Autumn Festival and the Sun Hung Kai Properties Hong Kong Cyclothon, held on 11 October. The cycling event offered 56km and 32km routes across bridges and through tunnels, with a carnival at West Kowloon Cultural District.
Hong Kong WinterFest is expected to begin in November, with Christmas attractions and light displays across Central, Tsim Sha Tsui and Causeway Bay. New Year celebrations are planned for 31 December.
HKTB figures cited in the release show Australian arrivals rose 20 per cent year on year from January to July, reaching 301,355.
