One of the shining stars of Central New South Wales is the elegant town of Mudgee. With many accomplishments under its innovative belt, it continues to grow its appeal to visitors.
Mudgee offers excellent accommodation of all types, superb wineries to visit and trawl the cellar doors, gardens that spring to life as the seasons prevail, restaurants that run the gamut of paddock to plate excellence to cafe sensations, and a thriving art scene that brings in visitors to admire the splendid sculpture festival.
A little more than three and a half hours drive from Sydney, the journey takes you through the varied shades of green in pastures, paddocks, hills and dales and a damn fine lake.
In response to new research, Mudgee Region Tourism has launched a petition calling for 'Mudgee Monday' - a proposed new public holiday for NSW to help combat burnout, support mental health, and level the long weekend playing field.
This all sounds like an excellent idea. In fact, I'm booking a weekend away right now.
