Australians continue their love for Bali

As Australians finally welcome the first day of spring, Booking.com has released new search data that reveals Aussie travellers are longing for a spring break in the sunshine, with Bali taking the lead.

Seminyak has claimed the top spot yet again, with eight of the top 25 searched international destinations being on the Indonesian isle.

Legian, Canggu, Ubud, Kuta, Sanur, Uluwatu, and Nusa Dua also appeared on the list, representing the iconic island.

As more travellers seek to beat the crowds and sweltering heat, a Euro-autumn is on the cards; with Paris and London appearing in fifth and sixth place respectively, with searches to the French capital increasing by approximately 30% year-on-year.

However, the appeal of a more affordable break to neighbouring Asian countries remains; searches to Seoul increased by approximately 50% year-on-year, with 17 of the top 25 destinations in the region.

Closer to home, the top three domestic getaway spots were the Gold Coast, Sydney, and Melbourne; almost half (12 out of 25) of the top spots were in sunny Queensland.

Booking.com’s Area Manager for Australia, Joanne Whitby-Lee, said:

“As Australians emerge from some of the wettest winter months on record, travellers are looking to enjoy some well-deserved time in the sunshine.

Travellers are gravitating to destinations in the surrounding APAC region that offer budget-friendly and convenient alternatives.

With 17 of the top 25 most searched international destinations in Asia, trending spots such as Kuala Lumpur, Ho Chi Minh City, and Seoul, are seeing consistent increases in traveller interest.

This is reflective of Booking.com’s recent 2025 Travel Trends, which revealed that value for money is the second most important factor for Australian travellers when deciding on a destination, ahead of good weather, beautiful natural scenery, and friendly people”
