Helsinki-Vantaa airport's Finnair Lounge has been chosen as the world's best from a list of 600 lounges. The choice was made by 40,000 frequently travelling Priority Pass customers. It's the first time that a lounge outside America has won the award in its seven-year history.
The modern Finnair Lounge and the new generation Finnair Spa & Saunas offer authentic wellness and comfort services for passengers connecting on Finnair flights between Europe and Asia. The Lounge and Spa, which opened in December 2009, are situated between gates 36 and 37 in Helsinki-Vantaa’s Terminal 2.
"The Finnair Lounge and Spa & Saunas are an authentic entity in the airport environment that demonstrate Finnair's real concern for its customers' wellness," says Markku Remes, responsible for the development of Finnair customer service at Helsinki-Vantaa. "We want to distinguish our advantages in the hotly competitive Europe-Asia market with excellent services. This award is fine recognition of how our service renewal is succeeding."
The stylish Finnair Lounge has space for about 250 customers and its facilities include six individual shower rooms, a varied buffet, a Via Bar and Samsung LED TVs in relaxation areas. Work facilities include a free wifi network, Apple iMac workstations, and the Finnish Powerkiss desk whose functions include wireless mobile phone recharging.
The Lounge has been furnished by the Finnish Isku Interior Oy company. Swan and Double Bubble lighting by iconic Finnish designer Professor Eero Aarnio is also a feature. Services are provided in cooperation with long-term airport services partner SSP Finland Oy.
The Finnair Lounge is open for Finnair and oneworld tier level and Business Class passengers and, for a fee, to other customers. SSP Finland Oy offers services in the Lounge to its own customers, including Priority Pass customers. The Lounge is open daily from 6am to midnight, while the Spa & Saunas complex is open from 10am to 11pm.
