Schoolies to make a difference in Cambodia

Schoolies to make a difference in Cambodia

Launch of first volunteering trip in Cambodia designed specifically for teens

Unleashed Travel has launched Australia's first teen volunteering adventure into Cambodia, providing students who seek a more rewarding Schoolies holiday with an unforgettable travel experience.

The package from Australia's leading schoolies travel provider will open the eyes of students to a country whose communities go without the 'everyday normalities' that our teens in Australia take for granted, such as a steady education and a family home. Unleashed Travel presents students with the opportunity to assist these communities while maintaining a balanced trip of fun, culture and adventure.

Unleashed Travel CEO Jot Lynas, who has organised trips for more than 10,000 Schoolies to date, has experienced a changing demand in what students now seek from their Schoolies holiday. "While we've witnessed an increase in the number of teens heading overseas at this time of year, many of these students are now seeking something more than just lying on a beach by day and partying by night - our alcohol-free packages sold out this year in less than two months. We're listening to what these teens really want and are tailoring packages to provide them with fantastic cultural experiences which also enable them to do something meaningful and give back to less privileged communities," says Jot.

This is the first year students will have travelled to Cambodia with Unleashed Travel, where providing assistance to a Siem Reap orphanage and school, and teaching the local children English, are highlight activities.

Jot Lynas expects the trip to grow in popularity and become a 2014 'package favourite', just like its alcohol-free package to Hideaway Island this year – Unleashed Travel sold double the amount of bookings for Hideaway Island in 2013 when it was alcohol-free than in 2012 when it was an experience which allowed alcohol.

The packages aren't all work and no play, however, with teens encouraged to take advantage of their evenings and weekends to absorb the local culture and sights such as the mystic temples of Angkor Wat and sampling the local culinary delights and vibrant night life of nearby towns.

Packages for 2014 start at $1,799 for 15 nights. Students are encouraged to book now to avoid disappointment. Unleashed Travel also offers volunteering adventures in Thailand involving community build and elephant keeper programs.
