Shamwari Group Prepares for Summer Season

Shamwari Group, which includes Shamwari Game Reserve in the Eastern Cape, Sanbona Wildlife Reserve just outside Cape Town, Jock Safari Lodge in the Kruger National Park, and Nkomazi Game Reserve in 
image004Mpumalanga, have all undergone soft refurbishments for the upcoming summer season.  Plus a unique Cooking Safari experience is ‘on the boil’ at Sanbona and Shamwari and further details will be made The ultra luxurious Dwyka Tented Lodge at Sanbona Wildlife Reserve is scheduled to open on 1 September 2014. All exterior and interior work, operating equipment, landscaping and access roads have been repaired and replaced due to the damage from a flood earlier this year. Guests can expect to experience new additions and further eco enhancements when staying at this tented lodge.

The kids play room at Gondwana Family Lodge has undergone a soft refurbishment so kids of all ages can truly enjoy the “Kid’s on Safari Programme” in a new fresh and fun filled environment.

Due to the popularity of the Boat Safari, the floating jetty on the Bellair Dam, which is now also used as a unique lunch location, another jetty will be built to enhance the guest’s experience.

After an incredibly successful season of the Jock Explorer Camp in 2013 at Jock Safari Lodge, this second season has been received incredibly well by guests looking for a unique walking safari experience as was done in the pioneering days of the original safari. The camp is open until the end of October and will reopen in April 2015. The opening of the Skukuza Airport has truly made visiting Jock Safari Lodge and the Kruger National Park more convenient. Jock now does its own transfers from the airport in an open game drive vehicles, by a qualified ranger. The drive is 45 minutes to the lodge opposed to a 2-3 hour transfer from KMIA.

Eagles Crag Lodge and Bayethe Luxury Tented Lodge at Shamwari Game Reserve have both undergone soft refurbishments to enhance the look and feel in order to offer something completely new for the season ahead. Eagles Crag has incorporated new decor elements at the lodge with new furniture, fresh paint and the plunge pools have been resurfaced and repaired. At Bayethe, all the decks have been extended enhancing guests comfort to enjoy not only the spacious new deck but also the private plunge pools.

At Nkomazi Game Reserve all outdoor furniture has been replaced with a modern design yet retaining the tone of decor and style of the luxury tents. Al fresco dining at the boma is now enhanced with the new look and feel.available shortly.
