Sydney has been named the number one city in Australia, New Zealand and the South Pacific in Travel + Leisure's 2014 World's Best Awards 2014 in USA, beating nearest rivals Melbourne and Queenstown, New Zealand to take out the top spot.
In addition, Sydney dominated the City Hotels category in the Australia, New Zealand, and South Pacific region, with the Park Hyatt, Intercontinental, Four Seasons Hotel and Shangri-La Hotel all named in the top five.
Destination NSW Chief Executive Officer Sandra Chipchase said she was delighted that Sydney has been recognised as the number one city by one of the world's most prestigious lifestyle magazines, Travel + Leisure.
“I am thrilled our beautiful Harbour City, Sydney has once again shined brighter than any other city in Australia and across our region,” Ms Chipchase said.
“It's little wonder Sydney is the number one city, with so much on offer for visitors from around the world, from our spectacular harbour setting, our many food and wine experiences, world class musical productions, festivals, sporting events and brilliant shopping,” she said.
The prestigious World's Best Awards 2014 are voted for by readers of Travel + Leisure and reflect the views of experienced visitors who travel the world.
