Newcastle based independent airline FlyPelican has commenced flights between Sydney and Newcastle from just $59pp one-way.
The airline, which allows 15kg of checked luggage on a 40 minute flight from Sydney to Newcastle; offers ease of access to onward flights to other Australian cities and overseas connections via Newcastle Airport.
CEO of FlyPelican Paul Graham said, "FlyPelican is extremely pleased to be providing this important service between the two cities.
"With flights arriving into Sydney early morning and returning on the same day in the evening, it allows for a full day of business or pleasure in either city.
"Early arrival times into Sydney also offer the best option for passengers with intrastate, interstate and international flight connections" he said.
FlyPelican also operates charter flights for groups and business events.
Manager of Tourism and Economic Development Services for The City of Newcastle Council, Jan Ross said, "The availability of this new flight, along with the FlyPelican service to Canberra, offers great opportunities for Newcastle in terms of domestic and international visitation to the city, and also has the potential to increase visitation from business and conferencing delegates."

FlyPelican operates a fleet of 19 seat pressurised British Aerospace Jetstream 32 aircraft and will be providing over 22,000 seats per annum on this service.
