Vivid Sydney Set to Sparkle this Long Weekend

The annual festival of light, music and ideas is set to attract tens of thousands to the illuminated harbour foreshore of Circular Quay, Walsh Bay, Darling Harbour and North Sydney, and to music venues across The Rocks and the Inner West, for the final days of Vivid Sydney this long weekend.

Darling Harbour's Vivid Aquatique show has already captivated over 110,000 people across the first week of Vivid Sydney, and due to its growing popularity has now been extended to include more lights, new full-colour lasers and three new water jets to delight crowds, doubling its size and filling Darling Harbour.

With shows on the hour ever hour from 6pm until midnight, audiences will also be treated to new additional dazzling fireworks at more shows over the long weekend including three shows on Saturday night (at 7pm, 8.30pm and 10pm) and two shows on Thursday, VFriday and Sunday nights (at 7pm and 9pm). A full schedule of Vivid Aquatique shows at Darling Harbour is at the end of the release.

Aquatique Show International has developed and installed choreographed water and light shows for the public entertainment for more than 30 years, and has amazed audiences in over 52 countries. The four different shows playing on rotation at Darling Harbour were designed especially for the Sydney public.

"Darling Harbour has been a wonderful addition to Vivid Sydney this year - it's the perfect location for Aquatique International, and with such huge interest from so many visitors we decided with the Sydney Harbour Foreshore Authority to expand the footprint of the shows and they are even more spectacular with new jets, lasers and lights. It's a real family spectacular," said Sandra Chipchase, CEO, Destination NSW.

Catherine Gallagher, CEO of Sydney Harbour Foreshore Authority, said, "For businesses in Darling Harbour, the large crowds coming to see the Vivid Aquatique show every night has been very positive. Restaurants, bars, cafes and shops are really buzzing, and there's a great atmosphere."

North Sydney - Colour the Bridge and Night MarketsWith visitors creating their own canvas on the Sydney Harbour Bridge, there's still plenty of time to explore Vivid Sydney from North Sydney, and a once in a lifetime opportunity to Colour the Bridge. This interactive installation, created by Vivid Partner, Intel Australia, and Sydney-based lightwork innovators 32 Hundred Lighting, beams vibrant colours along the upper and lower arches and the road deck of the western face of the Bridge.

North Sydney's Food and Artisan Markets in Bradfield Park return for the final weekend on Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights from 6pm, featuring arts and crafts products, colourful LED seats, food stalls and street theatre, while Luna Park Sydney's Ferris Wheel will offer a unique viewing experience of the bridge with the reflections upon the harbour.

Making transport easy, the free Vivid Sydney Harbour Shuttle ferry service will continue to operate between Kirribilli, Walsh Bay and Darling Harbour, encouraging visitors to maximise their time at Vivid Sydney and visit all the precincts.

Tune in to Vivid MusicVivid Music will take over from Vivid LIVE at Sydney Opera House for the final weekend, with highlight international and local acts celebrating innovation and experimentation in dance, electronic, improvised and experimental music, at four venues across Sydney.

Vivid Music includes Terminal Projekt at the Overseas Passenger Terminal showcasing some of the most famous international names in leading-edge electronic dance and house music; a night of local DJ talent at the Argyle in The Rocks; a two-day program of arts-based experimental and improvised music and contemporary composition at the Seymour Centre in the inner west; and an extremely popular program of sound art performances at ISEA2013 at Carriageworks in inner city Everleigh.

Owned and managed by the NSW Government's tourism and major events agency Destination NSW, Vivid Sydney will continue to illuminate the city from 6pm to midnight every night until June 10.
