Australians ditch tradition and look for adventure travel on new horizons

Australians are becoming more adventurous in their travel. Travel comparison and holiday deals website, Cheapflights.com.au reports that interest in destinations like Africa, Asia and South America is on the rise.

Travel Expert Kara Segedin from Cheapflights.com.au said that searches for African holidays have increased by close to 40 percent since 2010.

She said that interest in Asian holidays had also shown a steady increase, rising by one third over the last three years.

“The strong Australian dollar and the wide range of deals to destinations like Bali, Thailand, Malaysia and Hong Kong may have prompted this growth – and once you get that initial interest, word of mouth and friend’s recommendations via social media also have a big role to play in driving interest in new destinations,” said Kara.

Ms Segedin said South American holidays were also on the radar of Australian travellers with these enquiries increasing by over 10 per cent during the last three years.

“With the Papal visit to Brazil, next year’s soccer World Cup and Rio also hosting the 2016 Olympic Games, we expect to see continued demand for South American tourism from Australia and New Zealand, so now might be a good time to brush up your Portuguese and look at some flights before the rush.”

Cheapflights.com.au has return flights, including all fees and charges, between Sydney and Sao Paulo (Brazil) from less than $1500.
