Four Points by Sheraton Brisbane is the First Globally Branded Hotel to Open in the City's Central Business District in More than a Decade
Brisbane, Australia – March 4, 2014 – Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, Inc. (NYSE: HOT) today announced that its Four Points by Sheraton brand has made its debut in Brisbane, Australia. Owned by Felicity Hotel Pty Ltd., Four Points by Sheraton Brisbane is the first globally branded, new-build property to open in Brisbane's Central Business District (CBD) in more than a decade. It is also the brand's fourth property in Australia, joining Four Points hotels in Sydney, Geelong and Perth.
"We are delighted to introduce Four Points to Brisbane, one of Australia's most energetic and economically vibrant cities," said Sean Hunt, Regional Vice President Pacific, Starwood Hotels & Resorts. "Brisbane is a leading choice among business and leisure travellers, and the new Four Points is ideally positioned to cater to these different markets with a range of signature offerings and stylish accommodation."
Boasting the largest pipeline of all of Starwood's brands, Four Points has proven to be a hit with travellers in markets worldwide. Four Points is a key player in a new generation of sleek and modern mid-market hotels in Australia, delivering honest, uncomplicated comfort and exceptional guest services.
"It's always a good sign for Brisbane's economy when major international brands set up shop and serve as a drawcard for interstate and international tourists," said Lord Mayor Graham Quirk. "It's an exciting day for Brisbane to welcome the Four Points by Sheraton Hotel and it's great to have Starwood back in our city after more than a decade."
Minister for Tourism, Major Events, Small Business and the Commonwealth Games Jann Stuckey added "The addition of the first internationally branded hotel in the Brisbane CBD in over ten years shows a renewed confidence in not only our industry, but the Brisbane hotel and accommodation market. The Newman Government is working hard to maximise visitor numbers to the State and achieve our goal of doubling annual overnight visitor expenditure from $15 billion in 2010 to $30 billion by 2020. This new venture will contribute to boosting visitation and help to get Queensland back on track."
Four Points by Sheraton Brisbane is located in a contemporary 32-story tower designed by Brisbane-based Noel Robinson Architects at the heart of the city. The hotel features 246 comfortable and modern guest rooms, a fully equipped fitness centre and all of the brand's popular amenities and services including fast and free WiFi, complimentary bottled water, fresh coffee in the lobby, and the Best Brews local craft beer program.
The new Four Points is a short stroll from the city's key attractions, including the Queen Street Mall, Brisbane Botanical Gardens, Brisbane River and South Bank precinct, Queensland Performing Arts Centre, Treasury Casino and Queensland Art Gallery. The hotel is a short taxi ride from Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre, a 20-minute drive from Brisbane's international airport and within easy reach of public transportation options.
An ideal choice for both corporate and social events, Four Points offers 312 square metres of naturally-lit, flexible meeting space equipped with state-of-the-art technology. In addition, an exclusive, covered rooftop venue on level 30 called Altitude offers spectacular views across the city and river.
"Starwood's popular Four Points brand is a great fit for the city of Brisbane," said General Manager Brad Mercer. "At Four Points, guests will travel the way they like, with genuine service and classic style - in an unbeatable location."
