Outrigger on the Lagoon . Fiji has been named number one family resort in Australia and the South Pacific in Trip Advisor's 2014 Travellers' Choice Awards.

The resort, on Fiji's Coral Coast, has also been ranked among the top 25 best family resorts in the world by the on-line travel site, being placed fourteenth.

Other resorts to make the top 25 included the Four Seasons Resort Sharm El Sheik in Egypt, Jumeirah Beach Hotel in Dubai, Club Med Ixtapa Pacific in Mexico and Cavallino Bianco Spa Hotel in Ortisei, Italy.

Outrigger on the Lagoon . Fiji General Manager Peter Hopgood said the award recognised the resort's wide ranging appeal.

"Our Meimei nanny service, kids clubs and teens program combined with our Talei butler service and adults -only zones such as our new Vahavu pool, swim-up bar and bistro, fine dining restaurant and day spa have been designed to satisfy the needs and desires of both families and couples," he said.

Mr Hopgood said Trip Advisor had summed up its reviews of Outrigger with a quote from a guest saying ``my family has come away with memories to last a lifetime! The friendliness and welcoming from staff was superb. My two girls were sad to leave."

"This is not only a great result for Outrigger on the Lagoon . Fiji but for Fiji as a whole as it highlights its standing as a leading international tourist destination," he said.

Outrigger on the Lagoon . Fiji is part of the Outrigger Enterprises Group, a 66 year-old Hawaii-based family hospitality company which has 45 properties trading or under development in eight countries.

This latest award comes on the back of an announcement last week that Outrigger Hotels and Resorts had purchased 100% ownership of Outrigger on the Lagoon . Fiji and Castaway Island Fiji from its previous partner and owner Mr Geoffrey Shaw.
