Fiji's national airline, Fiji Airways, is pleased to announce they have added another two accolades to its growing repertoire, after being recognised this month in the 2014 HOW International Design Awards and in the DesignAir Top 10 Cool Airline Brands for 2014.
The HOW International Design Awards recognises design excellence in innovation on a global scale. Fiji Airways was awarded a win in the identity category for logo, letterhead and business cards representing a significant win for the team, which worked across the brand relaunch for the boutique airline in 2013.
In addition, Fiji Airways has been included in the DesignAir Top 10 Cool Airline Brands for 2014. This prestigious list features the 'coolest' airlines found around the world, as voted by their exclusive judging panel.
Fiji Airways was recognised for excellent service, their warm honest and 'smiley' crew as well as excellent fresh food onboard. The new branding was the staring light for the Design Air judges calling it "super cool" and awarding it in the top 10 list for "mixing a heritage and contemporary look, which along with the new livery and uniforms makes the airline a secret gem that is dying to be explored".
Fiji Airways Managing Director and CEO Stefan Pichler comments: "We are extremely proud of these two accolades for our airline and our teams who worked tirelessly across the new brand and identity for Fiji Airways. These wins underscore continued global recognition for us as we aim to become the world's leading boutique airline. We now rank next to leading global airlines like Emirates, British Airways and Singapore Airlines and this makes us humble as we try to deliver on all customer expectations."
The Fiji Airways rebrand was about creating a brand which represented the people of Fiji and could become a proud symbol in the skies across the globe. At the heart of this is Fiji Airways' brandmark, a striking Masi symbol designed by celebrated Fijian Masi artist, Makereta Matemosi. This symbol has become the airline's new identity and is true to Fiji. It is authentic, distinctive, and warm.
Fiji Airways officially launched the new brand in June 2013, retiring the previous name and identity of Air Pacific. With the move came a number of exciting new brand elements for the international marketplace including new aircraft livery three brand new A330 aircraft, a new website, a new on-board experience and new uniforms. Integral to this rebrand was the sophisticated, earthy tones, new wordmark and the Teteva and the Makare motifs - all chosen to represent the people and islands of Fiji.
