Nepal-based hospitality operator Sherpa Hospitality Group says it is responding to growing demand for travel experiences centred on culture, wellness and local engagement, as travellers increasingly seek alternatives to traditional adventure tourism.
The company operates properties across several of Nepal's key tourism regions, including Mustang, Manang, the Everest and Annapurna regions, Chitwan and Lumbini.
Chief Executive Officer Namgyal Sherpa said visitor expectations are evolving beyond conventional sightseeing and trekking experiences.
“Nepal has always offered extraordinary experiences,” Sherpa said. “But today's traveller is seeking something more personal — a sense of connection, a sense of grounding, and experiences that leave a lasting impact both on themselves and on the places they visit.”
The group's portfolio includes Shinta Mani Mustang, which combines accommodation with cultural and wellness experiences in Upper Mustang; Mountain Lodges of Nepal, which operates trekking lodges in the Himalayas; Kasara Chitwan, located near Chitwan National Park; and Hokke Lumbini in Lumbini.
Sherpa Hospitality said its approach focuses on local partnerships, cultural experiences and community engagement alongside accommodation and guided travel programmes.
The company said the strategy aligns with broader tourism trends favouring longer stays, wellness travel and more immersive visitor experiences.
Tourism remains a significant contributor to Nepal's economy, with operators increasingly promoting a wider range of experiences beyond the country's traditional focus on mountaineering and trekking.
