Thailand enhances tourism marketing promotions in France and Benelux countries

unnamed (11)The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) expects the number of travellers from France and the Benelux countries (Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembourg) to grow by five per cent this year, following a series of strategic tourism marketing activities including the Amazing Thailand Road Show 2014 held in the four markets from 29 September to 2 October, 2014.

TAT led a total of 25 Thai tourism entities comprising destination management companies, hotels and resorts and airlines to meet with a total of 28 tour operators and 75 travel agencies at the Amazing Thailand Road Show in Paris. In the three Benelux countries, TAT events attracted in total 60 tour operators and 200 travel agencies.

Mrs. Juthaporn Rerngronasa, TAT Deputy Governor for International Marketing (Europe, Africa, Middle East and Americas) said, “The Amazing Thailand Road Show 2014 to France and the Benelux countries has received an excellent response not only from local tour operators and travel agencies in France, Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembourg. This year, besides the usual cooperation from long-term Thai tourism stakeholders, Thai Airways International, we have also welcomed participation from new airline partners including, EVA Air, Oman Air, Turkish Airlines and Bangkok Airways.”

During the four-day road show, TAT and stakeholders continued to promote popular Thai destinations including Phuket, Ko Samui and Pattaya while joining hands in raising awareness of the upcoming beaches and islands; such as, Ko Kut and Ko Yao Yai.

TAT placed emphasis on wooing niche segments in each market: spa and wellness tourism in the Belgian market; outdoor and ecotourism in the Netherlands market; and luxury in the Luxembourg market.  In the French market, the focus was on promoting new tourism products as well as attracting first-time visitors from more cities in France such as Lyon, Marseille and Nice.

During January-August this year, the number of travellers from France – the fourth largest source of the European tourist market for Thailand, registered a growth of 5.77 per cent. In 2013, Thailand welcomed 580,062 tourists from France and 315,994 travellers from the Benelux countries with the number of revenue in total 59.3 billion baht.
